4.0 Preliminary

Coquette Dragoon has been updated... This update is both kind of small and kind of big!

I've been working on finishing the volume, and have been doing a ton of work on general polish and editing the existing chapters... I figured I would simply divide up what I've been doing and release the polish stuff now. Chapter 4 grew too long, and where it cuts off now felt like a good ending point, so now... Volume 1 has.. five chapters. Yes, it happened again. The next update will be the first half of Chapter 5, followed later in the year by the final Volume 1 release!

Everything in the UI has been updated... A new text box, new fonts, new cast page and more. A lot of character sprites have been edited and touched up, with some characters having new expressions. A new screen for adding characters to the cast page now plays after each chapter's eye-catch scene. Characters are now shown at their correct height and a global offset value has been added that changes per scene to keep everyone in frame. Emil is taller and Bell is wibbler.

A bunch of new scenes have been added to Chapters 1 through 3, with some new characters to boot... Sorry to change existing stuff, but that's part of the early access process I guess. Some of the world-building stuff and in world terminology has been changed... I'll leave that to you to discover. I spent some time doing my best researching military terminology and making it more accurate, as well as clarifying the chain of command of the Lilac, the nature and order of ranks, that kind of thing.

A lot of the small incidental animations during dialogue have been redone, the characters are now 50% squishier than before. Some new music has also been added to the mix.

The unlock everything button (a failsafe on losing saves due to version changes) has been removed from the menu, since skipping over the new scenes isn't exactly advisable for re-readers. I'll re-enable it the next patch if save issues persist.

You can now mute the game by pressing M on the keyboard. This shows a little mute icon on the top right, but currently also shows a small debug screen showing the current offset... I leaved it as is because it might be useful for any bug reporting.

Please let me know if you spot any typos or errors... I've caught a bunch of them but, well, I am dyslexic. The new font necessitated changing the quote marks to curly quotes, which have to be manually added through VSCode text replacement macros... Let me know if you spot any the wrong way around.

Character entries in the cast page and glossary are kind of in the middle of being rewritten... I'll finish it for the next update.

Chapter 5 update should be pretty soon! Sorry it's been such a long time since the last update... The last year has been a pretty wild one for me. I got engaged and spent a few months living abroad with my partner (the wonderful https://wolfieworld.itch.io/ )... Hopefully this year is a more productive one.

4.01 Update: Fixes to various typos and a crash when viewing Honey's cast page

4.02 Update: Fixes to minor visual bugs and mismatched entry in cast page
